FAQ

This set is designed for Club Car gas golf carts. The 1016203 drive belt fits DS models (1992 and newer) and Precedent models (2004 and newer). The 101916701 starter generator belt is compatible with Club Car DS (1997 and newer), Precedent, Villager, XRT, Carryall, and Pioneer 1200 gas models.
You should inspect your belts if you notice a loss of power or slipping during acceleration, which often points to a worn drive belt. If the cart fails to crank or the starter generator makes a squealing noise upon startup, the starter generator belt is likely stretched, glazed, or cracked and requires replacement.
Installation is a standard maintenance task that typically takes 30 to 60 minutes. For the drive belt, you will need to loosen the engine mounting bolts to create enough slack to roll the belt off the clutches. For the starter generator belt, you will need to loosen the adjustment bolt on the starter generator bracket to release tension, slide the old belt off, install the new one, and then re-tension it to the manufacturer's specifications.
It is common for a new drive belt to feel tight during installation. Ensure the engine mounting bolts are fully loosened to maximize the available slack. Rather than forcing the belt, rotate the secondary clutch by hand while feeding the belt into the groove, allowing it to 'roll' onto the clutch face.
When replacing the 101916701 belt, inspect the pulley grooves on both the engine and the starter generator for debris, rust, or oil buildup. Ensure the pulleys are properly aligned; if the pulleys are misaligned, the new belt will wear out prematurely regardless of its quality.
