FAQ

This kit is designed for electric dryers manufactured by Whirlpool, Kenmore, Maytag, and Amana. It is a versatile replacement for part numbers WP8544771, 8544771, W10836011, WP8544771VP, 7154072, 1180054, AP6013115, PS11746337, and PS990361.
The most common sign is the dryer running but failing to produce heat. Other indicators include clothes taking significantly longer than usual to dry, or the dryer stopping mid-cycle if the thermal fuse or high-limit thermostat has tripped due to the element shorting out.
You will need a 1/4-inch nut driver, a 1/4-inch socket, and a Phillips head screwdriver. We also strongly recommend wearing work gloves, as the internal metal components of the dryer cabinet can have sharp edges.
Yes. Since you have the cabinet open, it is the perfect time to vacuum out any lint buildup inside the dryer housing and the exhaust vent. Lint accumulation is a fire hazard and is often the root cause of heating element and thermal fuse failure due to restricted airflow.
It is highly recommended. When a heating element burns out or shorts to the housing, it frequently causes the thermal fuse and high-limit thermostat to blow as a safety precaution. Replacing the entire kit ensures your dryer operates correctly and prevents you from having to disassemble the unit a second time.
Yes, you will need to reuse the existing metal housing from your old heating element. The new element comes with the insulators and coil already attached, so you simply need to remove the old element from the housing and secure the new one in its place.
