When to Replace
Replace the relevant thermostat, fuse, or thermal cut-off when the dryer has no heat, produces too little or too much heat, takes too long to dry, shuts off too soon, will not start, or the timer fails to advance. A blocked vent, restricted airflow, failed heating element, or other wiring fault can produce similar symptoms, so inspect airflow and test the circuit before replacing parts.
Installation Tips
- Disconnect the dryer from electrical power before opening the cabinet or handling temperature-control wiring.
- Allow the dryer to cool completely, then photograph the original wiring and transfer each wire to the matching replacement terminal.
- Use a screwdriver and a multimeter for typical access and continuity checks. Replace a thermal fuse or cut-off only after checking for restricted airflow and a blocked exhaust vent.
- Install the included jumper wire only where the original wiring layout and service instructions call for it; do not bypass a safety fuse or thermal cut-off.
- A straightforward replacement can usually be completed in a few minutes after the correct access panel is removed, but cabinet design and testing time vary by model.
