Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers
- Replaces any 2-wire CBB61 capacitor with a 5 uF rating.
- This 450V AC rated capacitor can safely replace units with lower voltage ratings such as 250V AC or 300V AC.
Compatibility & Fitment
- Designed for starting and running single-phase motors.
- Commonly used in ceiling fans, electric fans, range hoods, pumps, and small motors.
- Fitment depends on physical dimensions. Verify case size to ensure it fits in the available space.
When to Replace
- Fan blades rotate slowly, even on the highest setting.
- Fan motor hums but does not start or requires a manual push to begin rotating.
- One or more fan speed settings no longer function correctly.
- The original capacitor shows physical signs of failure, such as bulging, cracking, or leaking fluid.
Installation Tips
- Disconnect all electrical power to the fan at the circuit breaker or fuse box before beginning work.
- Safely discharge the existing capacitor before handling.
- Note the wire connections before removing the original part.
- As a non-polarized capacitor, the two wires can be connected to either circuit wire.
- The uF (microfarad) rating must match the original capacitor exactly for proper motor operation.
