When to Replace
Replace the front glide bearings when the dryer produces metal-on-metal friction or squeaking, the drum rotates unevenly or does not turn smoothly, the cabinet vibrates excessively, or clothing develops scratches and marks. Worn or damaged glides can reduce support at the front of the drum and increase contact with the front seal.
Installation Tips
- Disconnect the dryer from the electrical supply before servicing.
- Remove the worn glide from its fixture.
- Slide the replacement hook head into the fixture and bend the hook head until it snaps into position.
- Install all four glides as required by the dryer’s front bearing arrangement, then confirm that the drum turns freely before reassembly.
- The repair is suitable for a person with appliance repair experience; a local appliance repair shop can also complete the installation.
