The 1950-001 is rated for 250 to 750 millivolts (mV). It is designed to provide the necessary voltage to operate self-powered gas valves in both natural gas (NG) and liquid propane (LP) applications.
If your pilot light stays lit but the main burner fails to ignite, or if the pilot flame drops out shortly after the gas valve attempts to open, the thermopile may no longer be generating sufficient millivoltage to hold the gas valve open. You can test this using a multimeter set to the millivolt scale while the pilot is burning.
This kit features a 36-inch lead with a two-lead connection and includes the PG9 pilot adapter, which facilitates installation into various pilot burner assemblies.
Before installation, ensure the pilot flame is clean, steady, and properly engulfing the tip of the thermopile. If the pilot orifice is clogged or the flame is yellow and lazy, the thermopile will not heat up correctly, regardless of whether the part is new.
