FAQ

These are standard S11 bulbs with an E17 intermediate base. They are designed for most classic lava lamps that require a 25-watt bulb. Please check your current bulb or the lamp's base socket to ensure it specifies an E17 base before purchasing.
The lava lamp relies on the heat generated by the bulb to melt the wax and create the flow effect. A 25-watt bulb provides the precise thermal output needed for the wax to rise and fall correctly. Using a lower wattage bulb may prevent the wax from melting, while a higher wattage bulb can overheat the lamp and damage the wax.
The most obvious sign is that the lamp no longer lights up. However, if the lamp turns on but the wax remains a solid lump at the bottom even after several hours of operation, the bulb may have lost its heat intensity or the filament is failing, requiring a replacement to restore proper function.
No tools are required. Ensure the lamp is unplugged and has cooled down completely before touching the bulb. Simply unscrew the old bulb counter-clockwise and screw the new one in clockwise until it is snug. Avoid overtightening, as this can damage the socket.
It is best to handle the bulbs by the glass envelope using a clean, dry cloth or paper towel. Oils from your skin can create hot spots on the glass surface, which may reduce the lifespan of the bulb or cause it to shatter prematurely when it reaches operating temperature.
