Fitment may vary by production year, engine, and wiring configuration. Compare the original parts and terminal layout before installation. Part/model reference: 175566 AM138068.
When to Replace
Replace the ignition switch when the key does not consistently crank or run the engine, the headlight position fails, terminals show corrosion, or the switch causes intermittent electrical operation. Replace the starter solenoid when the starter does not engage despite a charged battery and a functioning ignition circuit, or when the solenoid clicks without delivering power to the starter.
Installation Tips
- Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal before removing either part to prevent accidental short circuits.
- Photograph or label each wire and follow the tractor wiring diagram. Match every wire to the correct terminal; reverse polarity, overload, short circuits, and poor connections can damage the parts.
- Inspect connectors and copper strands for corrosion or looseness, and insulate exposed strands before reconnecting.
- Install the switch and solenoid in the original mounting positions, reconnect the battery, and test starting and headlight operation.
- Replacement normally takes a few minutes when the wiring and mounting hardware are accessible.
