This belt serves as a direct replacement for John Deere OEM part numbers M154295 and M158130.
This is a 1/2-inch wide belt with an effective length of 150 inches.
To install, locate the square hole on the tension arm. Insert a 3/8-inch ratchet into this hole and rotate the arm clockwise to release the tension. This will provide enough slack to remove the old belt from the center spindle sheave and route the new one into place.
Before installing the new belt, inspect your spindle pulleys and idler pulleys for debris, rust, or signs of bearing failure. If a pulley does not spin freely or shows wobble, it will cause the new belt to overheat and fail prematurely. Ensure the deck is clean of grass buildup to prevent uneven tension.
Common signs include excessive slipping during engagement, burning smells, or uneven cut quality. Visually inspect the belt for glazing (a shiny, smooth appearance on the underside), fraying, cracks, or missing chunks of rubber.
