Powerpole Connectors, Quick Disconnect Assortment Kit - AWG 12-16, 600V 30A

Key Features

  • Kit Contents: 30 red polycarbonate housings, 30 black polycarbonate housings, and 30 silver-plated copper contacts.
  • Electrical Rating: Up to 600V and 30A continuous current.
  • Contact Material: Silver-plated copper for high conductivity and low resistance.
  • Temperature Range: Designed to operate from -68℉ to 221℉.
  • Housing Design: Genderless, interlocking housings allow for customizable multi-pole assemblies.

Replaces / Cross-Reference Part Numbers

  • Interchangeable with similarly sized 15A, 30A, and 45A power pole style connector components.
  • Serves as a direct replacement for 30-amp, two-pole DC power connectors.

Compatibility & Fitment

  • Wire Gauge: Accepts 12 AWG, 14 AWG, and 16 AWG wire.
  • Applications: Ideal for amateur radio equipment, battery chargers, solar power systems, automotive and marine electronics, and other high-current DC circuits.

When to Replace

  • Visible damage to the housing, such as cracks, melting, or breakage.
  • Corrosion, pitting, or burn marks on the metal contacts.
  • Connection becomes loose, intermittent, or generates excessive heat under load.

Installation Tips

  • Strip wire insulation to the proper length before inserting into the contact barrel.
  • For a secure electrical and mechanical bond, use a dedicated crimping tool. Soldering is also a suitable method.
  • Push the wired contact into the housing from the rear until it audibly clicks into place.
  • Maintain consistent polarity by joining housings with the dovetail system (e.g., red for positive, black for negative).

FAQ

These connectors are specifically designed for 12-16 AWG wire. Using wire outside of this range may result in a poor crimp or an insecure connection within the housing.
Each connector is rated for up to 30 Amps and 600 Volts. They are suitable for a wide range of DC power applications, including solar setups, battery backups, and hobbyist electronics.
To ensure a reliable connection, you will need a proper crimping tool designed for Anderson-style powerpole contacts. While some users attempt to solder the wire to the contact, a high-quality mechanical crimp is the preferred method for long-term durability and vibration resistance.
The housings are genderless, meaning they mate with themselves. To maintain correct polarity, slide the red and black housings together before inserting the contacts. The red housing should always be used for the positive connection and the black housing for the negative to prevent accidental reverse polarity.
These are designed for quick disconnects, but they are not intended to be used as a switch to break a high-current circuit under load. Always disconnect the power source or turn off the equipment before unplugging the connectors to prevent arcing and contact damage.
